The rich laughter that
punctuates Diane White’s speech at regular intervals conveys a great deal
about her personality: she is exuberant, passionate and sensual. Diane’s unique style resounds with her
intense love of life, her seductive relationship with the arts and the
polished professionalism that flows from formal musical studies – all
elements of her personal dedication to entertainment. As a performer, she’s performed big
band, funk and musical theatre; her talents include trombone, piano and song
writing; she’s an actress
and a model;
she’s performed voice-overs; music for television productions and she was one
of the producers on her debut album Diane’s formal education included work
with Canadian jazz gurus Mohammed Abdul Al Kabbyr, Andrew Homzy, Charles
Ellison and Dave Turner en route to a Jazz Studies degree in Fine Arts from
Montreal’s Concordia University. Diane has an unquenchable thirst for
diversity – savouring the classic style of Billie Holiday, the sassy tones of
Sarah Vaughn and the funky sounds of Horace Silver. Diane’s innate ability to make
innovations resonate with the jazz tradition is one of the secrets of her
award-winning career. By popular
demand, her ubiquitous tones have been heard at the Montreal International
Jazz Festival, Ottawa International Jazz Festival, Eastern Europe New York
City, United Arab Emirates, Tokyo, Singapore and of course in her hometown of
Ottawa. |
